Loading MiniZed BDFs into Vivado 2020.3 in non-default install location

Hello all,

I have been having some issues with attempting to have Vivado 2020.3 recognize the Avnet BDF files for the MiniZed.  Due to disk space limitations I originally had to install Vivado on my D:/ drive; however I also modified the board.repoPaths parameter such that it points at the following locations: "D:/Xilinx/Vivado/2020.3/data/board/board_files" and "C:/Users/<Username>/AppData/Roaming/Xilinx/Vivado/2020.3/xhub/board_store/xilinx_board_store/XilinxBoardStore/Vivado/2020.3/boards".  I installed the minized folder *.xmls at the first listed repoPaths location.  The documentation I have read thus far seems to indicate this should be sufficient for Vivado to list the Minized board in the Default Part dialog, yet no "avnet.com" Vendor appears in the dropdown.  Has anyone else experienced similar issues or solved this problem by a different means?

Thanks,

Zedsynth84

    Hi there,

Seems like you are confusing the tool.  If you put the BDF in the board_files folder you do not have to do anything else.  Just shutdown and restart Vivado (it only reads that folder once upon startup).  Standard locations or not, Vivado always looks there.  That is where the original instructions for our BDF installs came from.

The second method of setting board.repoPaths came later:

    https://github.com/Avnet/hdl/blob/2020.2/scripts/make.tcl#L135

You also should not have to specify anything around the board store.  Those are built into the tools.  The repoPaths variable should only need to be set by you for your personal repos.

Note that the above variable needs to be run at EVERY start of Vivado.  If you added that to init.tcl adjust that and you should be good.  if you did not, just shut down Vivado and start it back up.
