I have hooked up a new miniZed board (first day) and am trying to pick myself up by the bootstraps and get it running. I have USB cables connected to J2 & J6 and a blank thumb drive in J1. I can talk to the console with Putty and run a sub-set of the Linux commands. I got the i2csensor app to run and display data that looked reasonable.

But now it has shut down (gone dark) by itself three times.  It only does this when I am away from my desk or not looking, so I don't know if there are mitigating circumstances. It can happen anywhere from seconds to minutes after I enter a command.

I can't find anything in the documentation (HW User'Guide, Getting Started Guide, Quickstart Guide) to explain this.  Is there an undocumented feature or could I just have a defective board?

Are you certain that both USB cables are delivering power? You could try removing the thumb drive from the USB to reduce the power demands on the system. If both power cables are properly delivering power to the system, that shouldn't be an issue, but it would be an interesting experiment.

Although unusual, it is possible to get a defective board. Every board passes a factory test, but that only takes a couple minutes. If your board requires a little time before it fails due to a manufacturing issue, that would not get caught. The board is covered by a 45-day warranty, so if you can return it.
