HDMI problem of PicoZed SDR FMC Carrier Card

Former Member

Hello,

We have a PicoZed Development Kit and every time we connect the HDMI cable the DS1 (in the PicoZed SDR FMC Carrier Card) is switch on and no image is shown in the Monitor.

The leds that are on are:

DS1
DS8
DS3
D3 (SOM)
D4 (SOM)

When we remove the HDMI cable the DS1 goes off. Is there any document about the leds functinallity and any recommend about what should we do?

    Hello,

Desktop Linux will often go to a power save mode and blank the screen.  We mostly notice this upon boot.  Have you tried shaking the mouse a little?  Is the HDMI cable connected at power on, or afterwards?

We're working on the User's Guide for the FMC Carrier.  Meanwhile I can answer your question about the LEDS:

    DS1 : HDMI connected
    DS8 : FMC Carrier 5.0V regulator good
    DS3 - DS6 : GPIO LEDs
D3 (SOM) : PG_MODULE (lights when SOM power supplies are good)
D4 (SOM) :  FPGA_DONE (goes OFF when Zynq PL is configured)

    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hello Matt,

I used a USB HUB in order to connect mouse and keyboard in the USB OTG. The hub has itself a LED which never turned on. It looks like the usb port have no power at all. So, probably there are even more problems like that the USB port is not working at all.

We had connected the HDMI when we started the device. We had waited for more than 45 secs and then we removed the HDMI cable, when we noticed that DS1 goes off.

We had try also to connect to the device with the Ethernet cable but the devices had never assigned a IP address (checked many times with our IT manager, there was never a request to the router by the device).

So finally, the device looks like it switch on the LEDs I wrote in my first message and stops there. Never boot or starts anything.

    Regards,

    Ilias

    Hello Ilias,

It sounds as though the design is not successfully booting.  I concluded this based on FPGA_DONE not asserting, the USB port isn’t alive, neither is Ethernet.

The first thing to check is the SD Card.  Please verify that you have performed the steps in the latest Quick Start Card.  I suspect you may have received an older version which omitted instructions on preparing the SD card for boot.

Let me know if that solves it.

    Thanks,

    Matt

The problem was in the power boot sequence and in the wrong R210 (where its value was almost outside the limits, regarding its tolerance). After upgrade the device and firmware according to the Matt's PM, with support from the local distributor, everything worked fine.
