HDMI is not connected

Former Member
Former Member over 9 years ago

Hi everyone!

I have a PicoZed Development Kit and when I connect the HDMI cable the DS1 is not switch on. Other LEDs are switch good.

The leds that are on are:

DS8 (power) - red;

DS7 - blue;

D3 (SOM) - green;

D4 (SOM) is switch off, so Zynq PL is configured.

I'm connecting a monitor (VGA) through HDMI-VGA adapter.

What could be the problem?

    Hello.

    Please see this related post and let us know if the problem remains.

    So, I want to share with you my current "progress".

    Yesterday it's only DS8 (power) switch on. SOM was dead. But later I changed P8 (that gives 1.8V default) to give 3.3V and it worked (other LEDs switch on, see first post), but HDMI not connected.

    Today SOM is not working again.

    Probably SD image is reason of this problem but I'm not sure. The fact is that I many times changed and rewriting SD card but now original state of card is restored and it's not working.

    New information. When I checked the resistor R250 all the LEDs switch on as it is necessary. But when I turn off and turn on the board only red LED DS8 (power) switch on again. When I checked again this resistor the board is working again as it is necessary, but no HDMI.

    Sorry but I'm still waiting for an answer. I saw the related post and didn't saw there the solution to my problem.  I followed the instructions of https://wiki.analog.com/resources/tools-software/linux-software/zynq_images (updated Linux image on SD card). It didn't helped me.

    Now that you have re-imaged the SD card according to ADI wiki page, can you please confirm that you've followed the Quick Start instructions for the kit?

    Yes I followed the Quick Start Card. There are devices that are connected to the my board:

    1.   UART cable. I'm using Tera Term terminal on my Windows host but PC don't see virtual COM port from the board any more.
    2.   USB-microUSB adapter is connected to USB OTG on the board. I connect USB keyboard through this adapter.
    3.   Monitor is connected to HDMI on the board through HDMI-VGA adapter.
    4.   LTE/MIMO antenna using the included U.FL-to-SMA cables.
    5.   12V Power.
    6.   Ethernet cable from board to PC
    7.   S1, S3 and S4 on the SOM to the logical 1.
    8.   P8 on the FMC to 3.3V (I tried 2.5V and 1.8V, don't work)
    9.   P17 on the FMC to USB OTG.

    I remind that only the DS8 (5V power) led turn on after that I turn on the board.

    Initially, you were able to power up and power the SOM:

    DS8 (power) - red;
    DS7 - blue;
    D3 (SOM) - green;
    D4 (SOM) is switch off, so Zynq PL is configured.

    But now, you don't even see D3 (SOM) light up, indicating that it's not powering up successfully.

    Is that correct?

    P8 position should not matter. Are you saying that when Vadj is set for 3.3V the system powers up? (D3 SOM illuminates?)

    Thanks for clarifying. I want to make sure we debug first things first.

    Yes that's correct. Can the monitor be a problem? A week ago only HDMI didn't work

    "P8 position should not matter. Are you saying that when Vadj is set for 3.3V the system powers up? (D3 SOM illuminates?)"

    In first time the board didn't work. Then I change P8 to 3.3V and all LEDs lighted up correctly (except HDMI). Then the board didn't work again. After that when I checked the board with ohmmeter something was "wrong" and all necessary LEDs lighted up correctly again. Now ohmmeter don't help me any more =)

    I checked if the power comes to the SOM. This is true. When I checked the capacitor C205 on the SOM then something is again short-circuited and all LEDs are lit correctly (except HDMI). Progress did not last long - if you turn off the board then it will not be work again.
    If the power goes to the SOM then something else is the problem. Perhaps this is HDMI (it's only HDMI's LED is not lit).
