ZedBoard 1Gbps Ethernet

Hi ,

How to configure Zed Board for 1Gbps Ethernet speed . using XAPP1026 application procedure , i am getting 350 Mbps speed with iperf Test. I followed same procedure given in this application note.

Can any body help for this issue.

Hi Anil,

When determining the data throughput over Ethernet, you have to consider a number of things including, but not limited to, the data path from the processor to the Ethernet MAC, the overhead of the protocol that is used, and the latency induced by any operating system which can include a number of data buffer transfers before it reaches the Ethernet hardware. Also, another important thing to consider is the latency induced by the host that you are testing against.

That being said, take a look at this project here which is a demo design from ExpressLogic showing the fastest throughput results that I have seen on ZedBoard:

Using that example, you may be able to discover ways to get better performance numbers across the network interface.
