Hi,

I cannot generate a correct DTS for my tests.
I am working with Microzed 7020 and my project consists of PS only.
My dts file is

    Hi Kevin,

with your devicetree I can boot linux: could you please tell me which procedure to follow for a correct devicetree generation? I followed this http://www.wiki.xilinx.com/Build+Device+Tree+Blob but without success so far.

With yout DT I cannot use eth

    zynq> ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.115
xemacps e000b000.ethernet: eth0: no PHY found
xemacps e000b000.ethernet: XEMACPS mii bus mii_probe fail.
ifconfig: SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such device or address

    Is this expected?

    Thanks for your help,
    Max

    Hi Max,

To be honest, I have never successfully used the devicetree generator outside the PetaLinux toolflow.

You might call me stubborn, but if I am not using PetaLinux, I usually just start with a known good ZC702 or ZedBoard devicetree and hand modify it to fit the application that I am working on.

The error message you show is not expected.  I have two suggestions on where to check next.

    1)  Make sure that GEM0 is enabled in your hardware platform PS7 configuration.  If the hardware is not enabled in the hardware platform, the driver will not be able to see a PHY attached to it.

    2)  If you insist on using a kernel you built yourself, check that you are using a known good kernel release tag and not just the HEAD of the repository.  I will post some more in the other response below.

    Regards,

    -Kevin

    Regarding point 1)
Eth works, because u-boot downloads the linux image and devicetree via tftp. Is this enough to say that GEM0 is enabled or not?
