Hello I am currently trying to figure out how to make a java program that will communicate with the ethernet port on my zedboard. The goal is to be able to read and write any data sent from one end to the other using a GUI.Does anyone know how I can approach this? any documentation? Code examples?

    Hi ACHERRY,

I think what you are looking for is to write a Java application on a PC to communicate with ZedBoard, is that correct?

Are you planning to run Linux on your ZedBoard?

If you are planning to run Linux on your ZedBoard, but need some place to start, I suggest starting with the OSL Linux build from Xilinx:

    http://www.wiki.xilinx.com/Zynq+2015.1+Release

When using an advanced OS like Linux on ZedBoard, network programming is just like on any other Linux platform so you can start from scratch or take an existing example and adapt it to your needs.

IBM has a lot of tutorials on how to get started with network programming under Linux:

    http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/tutorials/l-sock/

    Regards,

    -Kevin
