I was wondering if someone could explain the mechanism of the red LED3: PS_ERROR_OUT
I know the label says something like : there is an error on the PS side :-) but I like to comprehend what is causing the led to light up.
Because it is strange it waits 8 seconds before it get activated so I have the feeling this questions answer might pop up in the future again with our future designs.

It must be the PMU RAM init error then which causes this. caused on its turn by a PMU RAM init error. This does not explain the 8 seconds delay on the Ultrazed-EV board but this is close.

These are the steps I have used in the past to read these registers on an Ultra96 board. Perhaps you can recreate these and see what you get? I would be interested in this aswell.

Here, at our firm, we concluded that since the LED has multiple error causes there must be some underlying mechanism. Even when the SD is pulled out there is no FSBL nor PMU firmware present, yet the LED lights up. We think the CSU handles this.
Looking at my log: CSU_BR_ERROR says: 0x3B. From the manual UG1085 on page 242: 0x3B Reading failed from the selected boot device. ( yes, I unplugged my SD card to generate an error )
