UltraZED-EV + IO Carrier Card VCU in 4KP60

Question

Hi, I read the post ( UltraZED-EV + IO Carrier Card VCU Design Example (v2018.3) ) by Jason Moss about his test on the ZynqUS+ VCU. It seems the highest resolution he tested was 1080P30. I wonder if he was able to test at 4KP60. I am not so much interested whether the VCU design can handle this resolution because I already know it can. I like to get a validation the HDMI video signals can reliably go back and forth through the carrier and the SOM connectors at this data rate. Thanks, Simon

Hi there,

Here is the response I was able to get:

"The DisplayPort on the current UltraZed-EV Carrier Card is Single-Lane only and supports up to 1920x1200 resolution, so with this design, we could not get a resolution higher than 1920x1080. "

He then added:

"The HDMI-TX design on the ZCU106 does support 4k2k60 so I would expect it would work "

Hi Simon,

I heard back from the board designers, they tested with success using 4KUHDP60. I believe that was the requirement for that design. However, as was mentioned, based on the circuit and system capabilities, there seems to be no reason a 4K2K60 design would not work. Couple that with the reply about the design and I think I caught your entire answer.
