UltraZed-EV SATA Drive Power Sequence

ralphjy
ralphjy over 5 years ago

I want to add an external SATA 3 SSD drive to the UltraZed-EV Carrier Card interface and the drive uses a separate power source than the Carrier Card.  Should I power up the carrier card first and then the drive?  That would seem like the correct sequence.  I don't see a sequence specifically mentioned in the documentation (UltraZed SATA Performance Test Tutorial) but it seems to imply that the drive is powered first.  Just wanted to check -- hate to have any smoke.

Thanks,

Ralph

    Thanks

    Thanks Chris.

Somewhat unrelated question.  I attended your PMBus webinar which was great.  You mentioned that the program to update the Ultra96 isn’t available yet but are the monitoring programs for the Ultra96 and UltraZed-EV boards that you demonstrated available?

    Hi Ralph,

The PMIC programming and telemetry reading app that Chris mentioned in his webinar today will be released as part of the upcoming PetaLinux 2020.1 BSP releases for the Ultra96-V2 and UltraZed SOMs.  It will also be public via github at the same time.  Stay tuned!

Thanks Tom - I’ll be watching for it.  Really useful stuff!

Does the app require something in the 2020.1 BSP or will it work with 2019.2?
