Which Xilinx tools are required to create and build a Zynq design?

According to the ISE 14.1 Release Notes:

14.1 ISE WebPACKu2122 design tools now support Zynq-7000 EPP for the Xilinx Z7010, Z7020, Z7030 parts. Included in WebPACK design tools are the same tools as the Embedded Edition u2013 XPS, SDK, MicroBlaze processor, and the full embedded IP library.

Since ZedBoard has a Z7020 device, 14.1 ISE WebPACK will work.  The more advanced editions will also work.  Vivado does not currently support Zynq.

A ZedBoard kit will ship with an ISE WebPACK DVD.  This is no different than what you would download online from Xilinx.com.

Also, the ZedBoard kit will include a device-locked ChipScope license voucher.

Is there any info of 14.2 release. Is it released before Zedboards are delivered?

I mean should I just download 14.1 or wait to 14.2 release?
I now have 13.2 so I have to update my toolcain.

14.2 should be released in the next few weeks, and will probably come out very close to when you receive your Zedboard.  It is up to you on which version you want to use - both will support the board.

It might be wise to wait and check the changelog for 14.1 -> 14.2 and see what changes/fixes have happened and if you want to take advantage of those additions/fixes.

14.2 is now released on xilinx.com, but DVDs are not yet available.  Therefore, the ZedBoard kit ships with 14.1.  You are welcome to download 14.2 and upgrade if you would like.

So is it true that I can generate multiple licenses for most of the development environment and just have chipscope on a particular computer?

As I understand it, the chipscope license is tied to a computer Mac address or a dongle, not the zedboard... is it possible to bind it to the zedboard so that the chipscope license travels with the zedboard?

You can have the WebPACK license on multiple computers.  The ChipScope license will need to be tied to one particular MAC, Disk ID, or dongle.  You cannot bind the license to the ZedBoard.  The dongle is your best choice for ChipScope license portability.

WebPACK installation requires some work-arounds.  See here
