Vivado Read-Only files

Former Member
Former Member over 8 years ago

I am using Vivado 2015.2.1 and downloaded FPGA project ccfmc but several source files ie: 'axi_ad9361_rx.v' are Read-only and I am unable to edit it.  I can read and write it in windows but not in the Vivado editor.  I have looked every where I could think of for file properties that will allow editing.  Any help??

    Hi Wolfejf,

Could you please reference a link to the project you are talking about?

What Vivado version is the project targeting? I have seen this error when opening a project that was created in a different Vivado version then the one I was trying it open it with.

Is Vivado telling you that the some of the IP is out of date and cannot be edited?

I am using Vivado version 2015.2.1.  I down loaded hdl-2015_r2 and it said to use Vivado version 2015.2.1.  I am using project ccfmc.  No the Vivado IP's are all up to date.  The problem is that several but no all of the source files are Read-only and I can not edit them.  ie: source file "axi_ad9361_rx.v" is a read only file and I can not edit it.

This is a Picozed project targeting development kit AES-PZSDRC-FMC-G down loaded from github.

I believe this is happening because the verilog file is part of an IP block that is used in the larger IPI design. It's expected behavior for Vivado. It's forcing you to go back to the IP project itself to make modifications.
