Serializer on Vivado

Question

Hi,

I am working on a project in which I need to give a serialized data to the PMOD pins of the FMC Carrier Card V2 of PicoZed Embedded Vision Kit. I need to get an 8 bit input and create a 1 bit output with the clock speed multiplied with 8. However, I could not find an IP which can be used in serialization. Is there any way I can implement a serializer?

Hi there,

depending on your speeds, the easiest thing I can think of is just use a FIFO. Set it to 8 bit input and 1 bit output.
Then just clock at the correct speeds.

The best way to do this would be to pick a protocol and use that. Generally those IP will already include all the access to the SERDES blocks. Traditionally those are used more with transceivers.
