Segger JLink with Vivado?

dyessgg
dyessgg over 9 years ago

I already have a Segger JLink I use when doing development on other processors.  I am looking for a way to use that same JTAG adapter with a microZED so I don't need to purchase another JTAG adapter.

I've researched using the JLink with Vivado in many places and come up with *almost* answers, but none that provide a definitive method to do this.  Does anyone know how to make this work?

It would be nice if Xilinx had an open/documented specification for integrating 3rd-party JTAG adapters into Vivado.  It gets expensive buying new JTAG adapters every time I move to a new processor.

Thanks,
Greg

    Hello Greg,

The only reference I can find is that Sourcery CodeBench Lite within the SDK does have code to support the J Link here:

    http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/user_guides/ug821-zynq-7000-swdev.pdf

    and here:

    http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/sw_manuals/xilinx13_4/ug763_tplg.txt

    Sourcery CodeBench Lite includes proprietary
software from SEGGER Microcontroller GmbH & Co.KG
that allows the use of SEGGER J-Link debug devices
with the Sourcery CodeBench Lite Debug Sprite.

If any other forum users have used the Segger device please let us know.

Otherwise, you might have better luck posting your question directly on one of the Xilinx Communtiy forums focused on their tool chain:

    https://forums.xilinx.com/
