Interface 2 zedboards through SPI

Former Member
Former Member over 9 years ago

Hello guys,
I want to interface 2 zedboards with spi connection with 1 zedboard acting as master and other acting as slave.
I do not how to proceed for this as I did not find any tutorials for the same.
If you have any tutorials for the same, do suggest me.

In the vivado hardware design, I have enabled SPI 1 and mio pins are allocated to mosi, miso, sclk,ss.
How should I make one zedboard as master and other as slave ?
Kindly suggest how to proceed.

Thanks

    Hello Darpan,

Once you have made the physical connections between the boards I would suggest looking at the SPI coding examples included with the SDK. You can access these either via the SDK using the links on the system.mss or directly, within the Xilinx SDK installation directories.

The AXI SPI examples can be found here in a typical 2015.2 SDK installation:

    C:\Xilinx\SDK\2015.2\data\embeddedsw\XilinxProcessorIPLib\drivers\spi_v4_1\examples

    The PS SPI examples here:

     C:\Xilinx\SDK\2015.2\data\embeddedsw\XilinxProcessorIPLib\drivers\spips_v3_0\examples

I have found the QUAD_AXI_SPI core to be easier to use than the PS based SP controller, but either should work for your application.

    -Gary
