Interfacing an Ultrasonic Rangefinder

Former Member

Hi,

I'm having trouble interfacing an ultrasonic rangefinder pmod to the Zedboard.
My approach was to connect the ultrasonic rangefinder to the pmod inteface 'JA' and write the following code in the constraint file:
set_property PACKAGE_PIN C5  [get_ports {pwm_in}]
set_property IOSTANDARD LVCMOS33 [get_ports{pwml_in}]

When I synthesize the design, I'm getting an error that no 'object' has been defined for set_property.

I'm using Xilinx Vivado and trying to get the pwm signal from the pmod.

    Hello,

I see at least two issues.

First, the signal names for your two 'set_property' statements do not match. I suspect that one of the signal names does not exist in your design, which would cause the error.

Second, package pin C5 is on the JE PMOD interface, which is a 'PS' or MIO interface that is already assigned with a fixed 3.3V IO and would not need the declarations in the constraints file. I suspect you really want package pin AA9 on the JA PMOD interface.

You might want to use the ZedBoard master constraints file as a starting point. Just delete or comment out any signals you are not using and rename the signals to match your design. You can download the master constraints file here:

Thank you for the information about the master constraint file.

In the block diagram that I create, do I need an AXI-GPIO IP block if I use the JA pmod interface?
