ADAU1761 ALSAMIXER Xillinux

Hi,

Can we use aplay and arecord of Alsamixer with the Adau1761 chip? I built the Xillinux system but the alsamixer doesn't see any soundcard when i make aplay -l.

Only on graphical desktop i can play music by the help of pulseaudio. But i ll make use of a library which uses alsamixer and so the soundcard isn't working.

Anybody used the chip with alsamixer?

Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

The support for audio on the Zedboard was made using a Xillybus device file (/dev/xillybus_audio) to communicate sample data with the FPGA, which in turn handles the interface with the audio chip. This is why there's no classic kernel driver, but only access through Pulseaudio.

If that's possible, you may use Pulseaudio's interface (e.g. /dev/snd/), which isn't limited to the graphical desktop. Alternatively, you may find the padsp program useful for faking a classic /dev/dsp interface, if that helps.

    Regards,
       Eli
