programming the FPGA on zedboard

Hello,

I wanted to know how could I program the FPGA on the zedboard, as i have tried to program it with adapt it was not possible. I have a VGA display code which was originally implemented for sparten 6 board,trying to implement the same on zedboard. I want to program just the FPGA not the arm processor. any ideas, hints will be helpful.

    If you are using ISE you can use IMPACT, it is launched by the "Configure Target Device" process.

    I'm at work, but IIRC here is the process:

    - Power on Zedboard.

    - attach cable to micro-USB port at back left

    - Start Impact

    - Initalise the JTAG chain (CTRL+I is the keystroke)

    - Rightclick on the main canvas and select boundary scan.

    - When presented with the options for the PS (ARM processor) select "Bypass"

    - When presented with the ooptions for the PL (FPGA section) choose your bit file.

    - Right-click on the PS section icon and choose "program".

    I only ever have used a Zedboard with Impact, so there might be an additonal step to select which cable is in use - if so I've only done it once and don't remember.

    Another option would be to 'export' your design (including bitstream) to the SDK, even if you don't plan to run an application on the Zynq processor, and use the 'Program FPGA' option under the 'Xilinx Tools' SDK tool bar selection.

     

    Ultimately you will need to build at least a minimal Zynq project to load the bitstream of you plan to have your design boot from non-volatile memory and run without using the JTAG interface.
