Blue done LED  never

Hi

I copied the original SD card image to an SD card and inserted it in the SD slot on the ZED board.

The jumpers are set to boot from SD card as follows :

MODE3 (JP10) shunted to 3.3V
MODE2 (JP9) shunted to 3.3V
All other MODE pins shunted to GND.

The uart terminal does not show a connection and the Blue led (DONE pin) never light up

Does this mean that the board is broken(Zynq does not boot)?

What cnn be the root cause? Am I missing something

Thx

    Hello Eddy,

Just to double check, you have the jumpers set up the same way as this post describes correct?

    Hi Eddy,

I have run into this exact problem before with improperly formatted SD cards.

Make sure to perform a full format (usually a quick format works but sometimes it does not) of the SD card using FAT or FAT32 file systems.

If that does not work either, you can more reliably determine if there is something wrong with the Zynq-7000 All Programmable SoC device by trying to connect to it from Vivado Hardware Manager using the built in USB-JTAG interface.

    Regards,

    -Kevin

    Hi there,

To also jump in on this one, might I recommend the BRAND of your SD Card could cause an issue similar to this?
If you are using a card that did NOT come with your Zedboard, you might want to take a look here:
    http://zedboard.org/zynqgeek
at the "SD Card Advice for Zynq 7000 SoC Products" document.  It has a compilation of cards that we have had feedback on regarding compatibility with our Zynq based products.  I would not call this a perfect list, but at least it can help guide you if you are having issues similar to what you described.

    Hi,

I have triple checked the settings of the mode pins. They are set correctly.

I also formatted the SD Card (not the orginal SD card that came with the ZED bord though) with FAT32 .

It is a 4GB ScanDisk Ultra 15MB/s SD CARD.

    This does not work.

Most often it does not boot,1 every 100 times it seems to boot .

I can see the Zynq device through the JTAG cable but am wondering how I can see where the boot is stucK?

    Best regards
    Eddy

    Hello Eddy,

Do you have the orginal SD card, or a seperate SD card that you could try so we can rule out it being an issue with the SD card you are using? Also when it does boot the 1/100 times does everything work properly?
