Driving Piezo speaker (Buzzer)

Can I drive a Piezo Speaker using Avnet Sphere Kit ? I tried to connect to PWM_0 of Kit and tried to convert Arduino Code to Avnet but failed. Arduino use internal timer to send Analog Signals but I am not able to figure out how to use Timer on Avnet Kit.

Have anyone done it ?

Hi Rohit, There is an example here: https://github.com/Azure/azure-sphere-samples/tree/master/Samples/PWM/PWM_HighLevelApp that shows hw to drive a PWM signal. It looks like the example varies the intensity…

    Hi Rohit,

There is an example here: https://github.com/Azure/azure-sphere-samples/tree/master/Samples/PWM/PWM_HighLevelApp  that shows hw to drive a PWM signal.  It looks like the example varies the intensity of an LED.  This example should have all the details you need to get your piezo speaker working.

The PWM example Brian mentioned should get you going.

Before the hardware had PWM going a few months ago, I did a software based PWM for my piezo leveraging some Arduino code.  With the piezo buzzer I was using, I found that setting the period and duty parameters took trial and error to first get a tone and then to get what I considered a good tone.

So, if it doesn't give you want you want, you may want to do a For...Loop that increments through the period values and outputs a number to the console.  Then listen for what you like.

For example, for my piezo, to get a chirp , I had 400000 (period), 40000 (active).

    See ya',

    Sean

    Hey Sean,

I got your point. I'll run a for loop for different combinations to see outcome. It'll need earbuds though image
