Challenge sync issue

s2000gt
s2000gt over 6 years ago

The challenge indicated 15 continuous sync days to go to phase 2 and 30 continuous sync days to qualify for phase 1. But now I see my last sync which i got a confirmation email, is reflected on the following day according to the heat map. Now i erroneously show a missed sync day, wondering if anyone else has seen this? Also, does this now reset my continuous day count? I hope the sync server admins will resolve this issue.

I seem to have dropped a day as well. Is it worth sync'ing a couple of times per day to ensure at least one gets counted, or is that too much like spamming the system?

Hi Mark, sorry if the message on the challenge was confusing. I will review it today to make sure things are clear.

The Phase 1 requirement is 15 continuous days of sync to the contest server. If there are technical issues that cause your "continuous" reporting to be interrupted, we can absolutely work with that. This is a large and complex challenge, so we're prepared to roll with the punches!

Another thing to mention, which maybe you weren't saying specifically: a challenger can of course work on both Phase 1 and Phase 2 at the same time! So, working on your build while also completing your daily sync requirement.

Ah, good point! Yes, since the Hackster and e14 contests are separate they do have some differing rules and requirements.

Ultimately, when we determine who has completed the Phase 1 requirement for Sensing the World it is going to be a manual process to some degree, and so we will likely communicate to the community that if they had any issue of "counting" their days they should notify us so we can check against their device ID to confirm.

Hi Douglas et al! Since we do have an auto response email setup that confirms that your sync was successful, I don't think one would need to do the sync multiple times just to be safe.

Have you been getting those response emails when you've been doing the sync process?

Yes, the notifications have been active for several days, although the day I missed, I didn't check them until it was too late. I was doing other things while waiting for the map to update and it slipped off my radar. I'll have to be more diligent.
