Is the CM4 debug UART routed to the USB connector?

jose.simoes@eclo.pt
jose.simoes@eclo.pt over 5 years ago

I was following the UART Bare metal sample and trying to see the output from

    Uart_Init(UartCM4Debug, NULL);
    Uart_EnqueueString(UartCM4Debug, "--------------------------------\r\n");
    Uart_EnqueueString(UartCM4Debug, "UART_RTApp_MT3620_BareMetal\r\n");

But I couldn't see it nowhere in the VS output windows.

Also tried to connect TeraTerm to all 3 COM ports associated with the SDK and I couldn't see the output on any of them either.

Looking at the SDK schematic it seems that the debug UART is routed to the lowest COM port.

What am I missing here?

Thanks!

    Hi Jose, the M4 UART is routed to J11, as you can see on the datasheet of the board. You have to connect a USB-FTDI converter directly to the three pins.

    Thanks for sharing this information. I was looking for it. The Avnet board documentation is not very precise about this topic. There are several pins labeled TX/RX on the board.

    I have a question about the pin spacing for the UART connector. The 2.54mm (0.100") Pitch Connector spacing does not apply to the UART. I prefer to solder a header on my precious board instead of having wires sticking out. What is the pitch of the UART connector solder points?

    Looking at documents the connector is indicated as TMM-103-01-G-S, a 2mm pitch connector.
