Check out Microchip’s MPLAB X IDE, currently in Beta (download page link: http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/mplab/X_Beta/index.html) Noting that the MPLAB 6-8.x “has run its course” and the “IDE feature set is showing its age” the company has moved on to version X and, interestingly, chose Netbeans rather than Eclipse like everybody else.
