Hi Everyone,

I'm new this group and I've perused some of the discussions here.  The truth is, I'm completely lost when it comes to hardware development and really need your help in putting a board together.  I love the footprint of the Raspberry Pi, but I will need a little bit more juice in what I am trying to accomplish and would sincerely appreciate your thoughts on this.

I need a single board that can run minimally BSD Linux, have a 32-64GB drive space, have 4GB of RAM minimal, 3 RJ45 ethernet connectors and 2 USB 3.0 or 2.0 connectors, power connector, and an LED that can change from green to red.  I would load the OS/firmware through SSH using one of the RJ45 ethernet ports.  I'm trying to put it together in the design center, but am absolutely clueless on how to do this.  I was able to build this using re-purposed parts, but the current hardware footprint that I have is huge to say the least, which encompasses an 3 year old desktop.

Truly appreciate any assistance and also pointing me in the right direction would be fantastic.

Thank you very much in advance.

    Hi Jay,

I suggest that you go to the Make Magazine website.

They have good tutorial books and electronic kits that you can use to get up to speed on the hardware.

They also have a bunch of easy first projects for you to work up your skills on.

    DAB

It sounds like you want a PC SBC like one of these:

Industrial Intel Atom Small Form Factor Computer – SBC35-CC405-3815

Advantech Products - Single Board Computers - PCM-9576

VersaLogic - Copperhead (VL-EBX-41) - EBX SBC with Intel 3rd Generation Core i7

Doug, thank you so much.  I'll look into those links you provided and see if I can get it customized.
