Turn off a 7805?

I want to turn on/off a LM7805LM7805 regulator at command. As you know, the linear regulator does not have a toggle pin. However, are there any common methods to turning it off like a toggle?

Alternatively, is there a 5V 800mA+ regulator that has an off/on function?

Wow, way to come through for element14, Marco. The LM2575LM2575 is exactly what I need. It can handle input of up to 40V.

RWM, the LP38692LP38692 is a good option too, the price especially. However, the input voltage limit is a lower than the 24-30V I may experience. But, thank you for the suggestion.

I was just about to put a transistor on the source leg of the 7805 and turn it off/on that way.
