I bought a htpc and the usb cable is way too long and I'm wanting to shorten it. Is there even a 20 pin connector available as I'm sure this connector cant be reused. Any ideas?

A normal USB 3 cable has 9 pins so if yours has 20 it's not a USB3 cable at all. Post a picture and someone may be able to identify it. You will do much better to buy a new cable the right length rather than attempt to shorten the one you have.
