Hi all,
Just to check in, I have not managed to get much of anything done since last report.
Sadly, it is the height of allergy season and my ability to keep focus on any new material is severely compromised.
On the plus side, I did get to see the Webinar this week on the power saving features of the Freedom Processor. I also learned that the Project Expert has a wealth of programming code and templates to use for putting your project together. Once I become coherent again, I will look deeper into the software.
Speaking of the Webinar, I encourage everyone to watch it when it gets posted on demand. Freescale has done a good job of integrating a lot of the power saving hardware around the 32 bit core. Most of the basic functions such as data acquisition, interrupt detection and DMA transfers can all run while the 32Bit core is essengially on stand by. The power savings are significant.
It looks like the Freedom board can satisfy a lot of remote, infrequent monitoring tasks with the ability to quickly spin up the processing power you need to actually reduce the data and turn it into information. The potenial uses for this capability are very broad.
So as I await the first frost to kill off the pollen, I will try to get some more reading done on the tools.
Thanks,
DAB
