What are your plans with the KL25Z Freedom Board?

I'm excited to get a hold of this board myself and start playing. My day to day job doesn't give me a chance to tinker, but this simple board with a fresh microcontroller is pushing me to make some time. Just curious, what do you plan to develop with the Freedom board? I'm still thinking what DIY project I can come up with to help me around the house. Maybe something to track my kids (j/k). Thanks!

Seems that nobody wants to tell about his plans here :-).

My plans are to use one of the commercial SD card data logger Arduino boards and get it workinig with the Freedom board.

As for additional information: I have published the steps how to use OpenSDA on the Freedom board:

Would love to get started, but have hit a small roadblock.

If you can help, please reply on this thread.

I'm planning on building a MythTv Appliance.  I wnat the appliance to act as a front-end and a backend.  The starting configuration should provide storage for (at least) one week of program schedules with the remainder being used to store the recordings.  In the initial stages, all of the storage will be provided by SD, but of course, that would prove to be too limited for most needs, so when SSDs come down even more, I will make provisions for that.  The RTC in the KL25Z is a bonus and at this time it appears that there won't be too much necessity of added components othe than an immediate need for SD storage.  I'm hoping that U5 - memory can be used by the processor.  I have some of them on order (backordered) and expect to be playing with it as soon as I receive them.

I am having some trouble right now getting the USB-UART drive installed.  I'll probably be posting a question in a more appropriate forum after I give up searching for the answer.

    Hi Chris,

about using the U5 (serial flash): unfortunately this does not work, see http://mcuoneclipse.com/2012/09/26/a-seminar-and-freedom-with-it/

The efficiency of the M0+ lends itself well to battery based apps, I would recommend an application processor with SecureZone hardware firewall for POS, PC peripharals?...not sure about that, whole point of these nifty little processors is doing things well with less power which kind of contridicts PC's methodology of doing more without too much concern on power requirements.

I see these as a direct competitor to the 8-bit arena, so think of any 8-bit circuit you have designed or designing and chances are building for the KL25 will do it better with enhanced battery life.

I have completed two things I wanted to do with my Freedom board: one was to use DC motors, and one to drive a Nokia LCD.

    - how to use the Arduino Motor Shield: http://www.element14.com/community/people/McuOnEclipse/blog/2012/12/16/using-the-arduino-motor-shield-with-the-freedom-board

    - how to add a Nokia Phone display: http://www.element14.com/community/people/McuOnEclipse/blog/2012/12/16/using-nokia-display-with-the-freedom-board

Reply on a very old thread but still actual question.

Fiddled a little with KZ05Z and Mbed but noticed that there is to much overhead.

Therefore I want to use the Co-Ide from CooCox for development.

If somebody has some experiences with that I like to hear.

I want to use the board as a controller to drive LED panels.

If somebody has some experiences with that I like to hear.

In my pres-study I faced some still unsolved problems with getting the right library package for the chip.
