Would You Be interested in a LabVIEW Educational Program?

rscasny
rscasny over 2 years ago

element14 in conjunction with National Instruments is sponsoring a LabVIEW educational program on element14.

The program will offers basic educational lessons on LabVIEW and the chance to win a digital oscilloscope or bench multimeter, along with a 1-year subscription to LabView for building the best projects using LabVIEW.

The program will use the LabVIEW Community Edition. I am open to adding to the kit, so if you have suggestions, feel free to post a comment and I'll consider adding them.

I think this is a good opportunity to learn about test automation and get some knowledge on LabVIEW.

I have been interested in LabVIEW for quite some time, I just never had a good reason to dive in.

An education program could just be the ticket.

    Count me in.

If you want to answer yes, but you don't have a SCPI capable LAB instrument?

shabaz and I are working on firmware that turns a Pico into a standards compatible instrument. Goal is to have:

    • programmable outputs. A few GPIO pins that you can use to control something (a relais maybe)
    • programmable inputs. A few GPIO pins that you can use to measure if a test signal is high or low (is a switch closed?).
    • optional, an analogue input (a Pico ADC)
    • optional, an analogue output (a block wave with variable duty cycle)

    image

It complies to SCPI and USB-instrument standards. Enumerates as a test instrument on a computer with LabVIEW installed. It allows anyone with a Pico to participate in the training and in the example project exercise.

This is awesome, nice to see Jon’s Pico USB TMC to evolve. If we could get transparent LabView SRQ support all the way through, it would be incredible. To respond to a button or buffer full event on the pico.

The scpi library that we're using supports it. If one of the trainees needs the functionality, they could give it a shot and implement it. We'd accept pull requests with a working implementation (target: https://github.com/jancumps/pico_scpi_usbtmc_labtool).

There's a blog here that hopefully helps. As Jan says, with just a single Pi Pico, you can immediately have a SCPI capable instrument, all ready for LabVIEW!

PST.. Have you worked with the Pico SCPI labTool?
