PSoC 4 and Raspberry Pi

Hello!

We're all familiar with Element14's Raspberry Pi product and their community forums:

http://www.element14.com/community/groups/raspberry-pi?ICID=hp-topgroup_menu

I just wanted to let everyone know that we'll be having an example next week interfacing the Pioneer Board with the Raspberry Pi.

The example will use three serial communication ports (UART, SPI, and I2C) to interface between the Pi.

So stay away from Starbucks for a week, dig through the cushions in the couch, and pick up a Raspberry Pi (they are only $35). Get ready to begin interfacing your Pioneer board with the Pi.

Best,

Matt

It would be nice to be able to program the PSoC 4 Pioneer using the Raspberry Pi or other GNU/Linux box.  I realize that PSoC Creator and PSoC Programmer are Windows-only.  Is the boot loader USB protocol published somewhere so that someone could write a simple programmer for non-Windows hosts?

    John,

    http://www.cypress.com/?rID=83293

Here's a link to the application note that details how to use the Cypress host tools, but also the underlying structure of what's going on and how to target the bootloader. This document can be used to generate your own host tool.

I believe you can bypass the USB needs since the PI has I2C connections via the GPIO header on the board. You could write a host application that targets those pins and then bootload the P4 using a host applciation.

If you write this application please feel free to post it here in the forums so others may enjoy it. I will be posting the Pi example on Wednesday.

    Thanks,

    Matt

The PSoC - RasberryPi serial communication example has been posted (thanks Matt!):

PSoC 4 Pioneer Kit Community Project#083 – Raspberry Pi Integration

We have been targeting two communities in the 100 days projects, Arduino and Pmod. In today’s example we will be adding support for the wildly popular Raspberry Pi hardware. In this example we will have the Pioneer board communicate to the Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi will then send values back to the Pioneer board to control a PWM connected to the LED. Also included in this example is a python script for users to create a hyperterminal program to read and write data to the Pioneer board from the Pi.
