Has anyone upgraded to PSoC Creator 3.0 SP1?

COMPACT
COMPACT over 8 years ago

PSoC Creator 3.0 SP1 was released a few days ago on 28/04/2013 and I've just upgraded to it from PSoC Creator from 3.0 and am encountering some peculiarities with it.

I was just wondering if others have experienced the same.

Prior to SP1 turning on the onboard LEDs worked perfectly with ..Write(0) function which makes perfect sense because the output pin is connected to the LEDs cathode but with SP1 turning on the LED now requires a Write(1). This is behaviour affects P1.6 (RED), P0.2(GREEN) and P0.3(BLUE) but not other pins such as P1.0 and P1.1.

I've raised a tech support case with Cypress and hope to get a response soon.

I have received a response from Cypress to confirm that they have changed the functionality of the Digital Output pin.

The workaround is to uncheck the Digital Output pin's - Pins, Type, Digital Output, H/W pin checkbox which makes it no longer require a logical component to be connected to its input.

This may affect existing designs that use both the hardware input connection and register control.

This makes sense to some degree because it allows the initial state value to work but now the schematic symbol is incorrect leaving an open ended input.

An improvement would be to have the component use a modified symbol showing that it is driven a register.

The devil (complexity) is in the detail and the myriads of options available.
