It's like a script from a bad episode of Star Trek, a whole planet gone insane with the clueless making the decisions and those who actually drive the technology of civilization forward having no say.…

    Woohoo! image

Even the plain base-level 30-euro A10-OLinuXino-LIME is already interesting because of its SATA and ready LiPo socket, which aren't common in this price range.  Each extra facility just adds more interest, and this could be seen as the basis for an entire range of boards from Olimex:

    • Base LIME model, A10 Cortex-A8, SATA, LiPo -- 30 euro
    • + 4GB on-board flash -- probably +5 euro
    • + 1 GB RAM
    • + A20 dual core Cortex-A7
    • + Gigabit Ethernet

Come to think of it ... are Olimex basing their business plan on my posts? imageimageimage

    This is great news.

Great news for ARM users, that is.

It's not great news for Raspberry Pi Foundation nor for BeagleBoard.org --- the pressure is on owing to the march of progress.  BeagleBone Black still has some clear functional advantages such as its PRUs.  Raspberry Pi is left with no on-board advantages at all, since the base LIME has full media functionality  and BBB already vanquished Pi in all other hardware areas.  The Pi camera is an off-board advantage for Pi though, owing to its very low price.

It's not great news for Farnell group either, whose buyers are still totally out to lunch on listing A10 and A20 OLinuXinos.  Oh well, it's their choice if they don't want my money.
