BBB out of stock ?

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

I'd noticed that both Farnell and CPC in the UK were out of stock. Seems they're not the only ones

Looks like the BBB just became popular image   Makes you wonder if they're following in the RPi's 'sell out a little to sell a lot' footsteps..

    Hey Guys--

As you know, we're currently out of stock on the BeagleBone Black. I've heard we're getting some more in over the next couple of weeks. You might want to sign up on our transactional sites to be notified when we get more in:

With a 26 week lead time on some parts, it seems that the BBB is going to have a 2014 somewhat similar to the RPi's 2012 with nobody having stock for long.

    Hi Selsinork,

Thanks for the information. I couldn't find any in-stock from the usual UK sources so I think you're right, stock is shipping to recipients as soon as any arrives in any warehouse!

Yep, seems that way.  It also suggests that, for reasons as yet unknown, the BBB is hugely more successful than anyone realised.

Missed that one, thanks for the link.  Still, that can't be all there is to it. The wiki page suggests they're building approx 8000 per month so that 1000 per week is only half the supply. Getting from there to a 140K backlog in a few months doesn't seem to add up unless the distributors are being very foolish.

Anyway, for a company, that's a very inept approach.  If it was me, I'd have arranged to build my own boards to assure supply and would have approached Gerald directly for support through 'other avenues' as offered in the terms of use section of the wiki http://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack#Terms_of_Use I certainly wouldn't have come onto a public forum complaining about failure rates for a board that was never designed for whatever they're using it for.

Even more interesting is when you look at the email address of the original post, then go to http://acdusa.com/ I have some difficulty believing a company like that would put itself in this sort of a position, but if they have I'd want to steer clear of them or anything they touch.  Even better is that they appear to be a 5min walk down the road from CircuitCo !
