Which Single Computer Board to buy?

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

Hello

Please help me to choose which single computer board to buy from among. I'm looking for comparing with BBC Microbit board.

My objective is hands-on some small kind of electronics projects using C/C++ coding (from Windows XP) to board.

Please guide me to select perfect board.

Yes, indeed, very similar looking to the micro:bit. Got mine from Kickstarter ( https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/922345933/codebug?ref=nav_search )

Yes Context is indeed King here and the whole point of giving useful advice rather than opinion is to ask the original poster for some context. The problem is that after nearly 2 months many have forgotten…

all depends on what you need it for

    list your needs, then search

    like what one I needed,

    arm based

    usb at least 2

ethernet and able to use wifi

    os ready and easy setup

able to use a server with a SSH function

    cost "35.00"

    if it's a microcontroller

then a Arduino is a good one to start with

UNO is the best and once your done with the program a put it on the chip you can pull it out and imbed it in a project and order a new ATMEL chip and reuse the Arduino for other project's

just remember to make a list and figure out what you new before you buy it

I think this thread has gone stale, but as you say with so many good boards about you need to have a very good list of requirements for some one not to give you many  opinions  none or all suitable for your needs. It's not sensible to ask a 3rd party what your requirements are

just remember that the computer use choice must meet your needs or at least most. But to ask a 3rd party isn't bad because sometime's someone else maybe able to even add to the list or subtract because they may know something you may not. question's are good because they lead to knowledge.

Where as asking a 3rd party advice obviously isn't bad. the advice can be better if they give more information about the intended use and the current skills of the person. In fact to ask these questions is very sensible because often the question initiator hasn't asked these of them selves.

Finally it's only an opinion hopefully made on the best available information and in  the end it's up to the initiator to take the views on board and make the decision. Blindly believing that one is good and another bad for a purpose is just pointless.

Also we have these threads appear all the time so really it would be good to have a read of these to develop an opinion rather than just repeating the same question all the time.... Agreed searching E14 is a pain but it can be done.

as a opinion most post's may sound the same if you only view it as such but the opinion of my on single board computer's is listen to 3rd party opinion's and add them together to get a straight answer. An to say this form is going Stale and not to listen to what people may say to you with a grain of salt. I feel insulted by the way you said that people don't read before they answer

Good Day, image ps. check on any information yourself and please don't post any reply to this.

(To mangle a quote to fit this scenario), "context is king".
