bash: opkg: command not found error

Just got my BBB and can't seem to use the package manager, opkg, to install python modules.

Tried "opkg install wxpython" from ssh root user and directory.

The documentation said that the Amstrong elinux (realtime linux) was preloaded. I am starting to think not as the SSH welcome says Debian Image 2014-4-23.

What gives?

Try this "pip --help" might be the package manager for armstrong.

Seems you can upgrade or load your own on SD card which I recommend.

Beagleboard switched to Debian as the default o/s some time ago as the main person behind Angstrom changed jobs so was not providing support.
You can install the last version of Angstrom that was made from http://beagleboard.org/latest-images it's dated 20/06/2013

For Debian the package manager is apt-get
