    Ice is an insulator.... Down in the Antartic they simply string the HF communications antenna just above the ground (it melts into the ice otherwise) for their comms. I suspect the antenna on the rover…

    Im curious about the radio link, how do they achieve the link from under the ice (presumably a foot or more think)

    No idea if they started working with good commercial hardware or the opposite image It will be interesting to know this detail.
