Unsuccessful flashing SD to eMMC - BBBlue

I've been trying to update my BBBlue to the latest debian (AM3358 Debian 10.3 2020-04-06 4GB SD IoT) as I've not used it in a long while.  I can successfully  boot from SD card with this image but when I attempt to flash the eMMC memory using either the init-eMMC-flasher-v3.sh script running from the command prompt or by booting with the Flasher version of the image file (AM3358 Debian 10.3 2020-04-06 4GB eMMC IoT Flasher) it appears to go through all the motions of writing to eMMC - i.e. boot up, then into rolling LED mode, then shut down.  Unfortunately booting up subsequently with the SD card removed I don't get a full power up and I can't get a connection (USB via 192.168.7.2:3000)  There is no blue status/heatbeat/comms lights - only a blue power light near the jack, a green(?) in the USR LEDs and one down near the LiPo connector

Even after all this, I can still boot up via SD card successfully and talk to the Cloud9 IDE but I want to do this without the SD installed.

What am I doing wrong?

Are you able to check if you can mount the eMMC when you're booting from the SDCard to check the status of it? See if it's accessible and you can read/write to it?

Well that's wierd!  I pulled it off the jig it's driving and took it home to see what I could find out.  I lost the SD card, found it again in the stairwell, reloaded a non-flasher image, stuck it in, forgot to press the boot button and powered it up - hey presto it's booted from the eMMC!  I pulled the SD card out and rebooted it again and, yes, it really is running all OK from it's eMMC.  I have no idea what's changed it's mind!

I'm updating it all now and tomorrow I'll screw it back onto the test jig and see if it still likes me.

Maybe something temporarily shorted or was pulled to ground?

Yes possibly.  Weird that it booted and ran OK via SD card though.  I mounted it on all four mounting holes with brass stand-offs so I'll definitely check it all out.
