How to use NODE-RED with BBONE-GATEWAY-CAP

Hi

we are rather new in using BBB for IoT purposes but managed to build a few sollutions.

We would like to use the BBONE-GATEWAY-CAP with NODE-RED !

looks like the pre-installed version of NODE-RED does not support the BBONE-GATEWAY-CAP

we succeeded in using it by installing a new instance of NODE-RED but now we have 2 instances running and that is not the purpose.

Can somebody help us with a step-by-step guide on how to build a clean install for BBB with this CAPE for use with NODE-RED ?

would help us a lot !

in case email is usefull I can be reached on johan@2serve.be

One possibility is to use the "console" version of the debian images for the beaglebone.  It is a stripped-down version, it's available so you can add only what you need.  You can apt-get the node-red version you need.  The disadvantage is you have to add everything you need.  (The IoT version they provide at beagleboard.org/latest-images includes many useful packages, but you may not need all of them.)

    console image for 'stretch'

    or 'buster'

    https://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack_Debian#Debian_Buster_Console_Snapshot

    any version you could want:

    Allen

many thanks for your quick reply !

my preference would be to use the ready-made iot image but the cape is not supported in that version

we did not succeed in installing the necessary drivers for the cape in that image ...

any suggestions on how make cape work in the ready-made image ?

    THX
