Offering paid work to professional person to set up 5 axis mill with Beaglebone Black Controller

Hello,

I am new here.

I am looking for a person who can provide professional service to fully set up the Beagle Bone Black Controller and associated electronics components for a miniature 5 axis mill I am designing

The mill is a 5 axis gantry table-table router design. I would like to include as many as possible of the following features in the mill but don't know what is possible with this controller:

- Continuous 5 axis milling

- Probe measurement of tool length

- X, Y, A & C probing routines (if possible)

- Automatic tool change routines and control (if possible with this controller)

- Servos with absolute encoders (if possible with this controller)

- In addition in the longer term I would like to find someone that can customize the front end to accommodate all of the above if necessary

  • I'm assuming you mean MachineKit - which I seem to remember was a port of Linux CNC designed to run on the BBB (possibly making use of the PRUs). I haven't heard this mentioned for many years. I suspect it may have been abandoned. If you're designing a mill, I suspect this might not be the best direction to take things.

    As far as I understand the Beaglebone is used by PocketNC, is this not correct? I am building slightly larger and stiffer mill but I am considering using the same controller as the PocketNC but I am a mechanical engineer with limited experience in electronics. I would like to do a few things more for my mill however such as servos with using absolute encoders to avoid having to zero the mill every time I start it up and I am also considering equipping it with a simple stationary tool clamp rack and a spindle that can perform automatic tool change. I know very little about the Beaglebone and have so far mainly looked at the option of using a Syntec controller. The Syntec is of cause a lot more expensive and I am planning to build a small pilot series of 20 mills so using the Beaglebone would be a cheaper option
