What's the maximum amount of current which I can draw from the 3,3V line on RiotBoard

Hi, I know that the RiotBoard provides 3,3V on the pin header and also should provide 3,3V over the LVDS connector. What is the maximal current availible ? I would like to connect older LCD fomr a laptop and would like to know if I need extra power supply for feeding the electronics. The 3,3V current will be limited by the power regulator but I do not know which one is used by the riotboard.

    Hi Karel,

     

    The RIoTboard has published schematics, and according to that there is a 3.5A capable 3.3v DC-DC converter there, but the power is shared with other subsystems on the board.

    tusharp can keep me honest.

    Anyway, from the 5V DC input jack, there is also a fuse on-board (I didn't check in detail if it was a resettable fuse) which will limit you to around 1A overall for the entire board.

    This thread RioTboard Power Consumption   has very useful figures, including current consumption of the board with an off-the-shelf LVDS display (available from Farnell/Newark).

    I know this is not the Riotboard, but this should be a ball park area:

    50 mA is for the 3.3V power pin (P1-01) which is the output of RasPi's 3.3V regulator RG2.  You can use it for +3.3V ICs and pull-ups on an external board provided that the total current is under 50 mAI
