http://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-65474?ICID=knode-riotboard-prodspecs has a link for schematics, clicking on it results in:

Perhaps either remove the restriction, or remove the link.

    Thanks!

Next question.. follow on from a quick look at the schematics...  Do you know if gerbers will be provided ?  The reason I ask is a fairly simple one, VDD_SNVS_IN is tied to some LDO with none of the necessary isolation to allow connecting a 3v battery. So the on-chip RTC is useless as there's no way to have it battery backed.

So far the only SBC's that have the option are the Minnowboard and CubieTruck, so there's nothing unusual here.

However, gerbers mean it's possible to find the trace and see if it's presented on the outside of the board in a place where it can be cut and a battery added.

Simple thing to ask maybe, but you'd really be surprised at just how much stuff expects to know what the date/time is before it'll work properly and the common situation of not being able to use the on-SoC rtc is frustrating and has kept me busy building add-on I2C RTC boards for much too long already..

Selsinork, would de-popping R30 give good enough access for this? It's on the backside of the board, near the HDMI port.

It seems likely it would.  I don't have a board at this point, so couldn't look. Many years in the electronics industry has taught me that it's common for zero ohm resistors to get eliminated for cost savings image

So I'm guessing it'll be an 0402 or similar and akward to remove, but that's ok. At least it's an option.  I'd obviously prefer if the designers of a lot of boards would add a connection point for a battery, even if un-populated by default as it would at least give us a choice. But I'll take what I can get!  Thanks for having a look!
