Running ubuntu on RIoT Board, on SD Card

gsgill112

Hi Guys, Can someone give me a Ubuntu image link for this board. I want to dump Ubuntu on the board but all the other articles I read are about some compilation stuff, which I don't have time to invest. Does this board have a standard Image which i can burn on the SD card and boot the Board with that image ?

Thanks

GurI

There´s a blog entry which describes how to install the Linux image here: Impressions on the RIoTboard and changing its Operating System in Windows

But with that method you can only install it on the internal eMMC.

To install it to the SD Card you´d have to change the installation Methods in the configuration of MFGTool.

If you want, selsinork created a minimal Debian image you can flash directly on a SD Card.

It has a newer kernel, and almost nothing installed. Therefore minimal.

But as selsinork said itself it´s still an image that should be tested depending on what you want to do.

    For me it´s running fine.

But remember to set dip switches correctly to boot from SD Card.

You can get it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-WIc2IIJv2FWndTRUNCSE9rZzQ

This article, The specified item was not found., also by selsinork will get the ubuntu image on an sd card. This requires a little unpacking and downloading a big image, but after the download the follow on instructions would probably take less than 20 minutes.

As Otto says, make sure you have the dip switches correct. The will be different depending on whether you are booting a full size or micro SD.

    Good luck,

    Mike

If you do folow my instructions to put Ubuntu onto SD, remember that they're setup for just one of the SD card slots. You'll need to change some things to get it working on the other one as well as the dip switches. Unfortunately I've been unable to get the old kernel working with the new u-boot, if that can be made to work we can take advantage of a new command that would allow to build an image that works in any SD slot as well as on eMMC.
