Accessing SPDIF input pins

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

Hi,

we have two RIoT boards in our test setups now, along with other imx6 boards, and they are working great! We are able to use SPI, I2C, UART and other connections. On other boards we now also acitivated the SPDIF input of the imx. Sadly, there is no pin available for this on the RIoT's expansion port.

The possible pins for SPDIF input are:

EIM_DATA_21

ENET_RX_ER

GPIO_16

KEY_COL3

The question is now: How to access one these pins most comfortably?

Does anybody now if GPIO_16 is available on the bottom of the board, so we could solder a wire to it?

Does any of the other pins have an easily accessible contact spot?

Thanks,

Jonas.

In the meantime I was able to access one of the pins. ENET_RX_ER is connected to the USB OTG socket, as pin nr. 4. Using the instructions from the Udoo forums (Forum | UDOO) one can enable the SPDIF input and then either solder a new wire at the back of the USB connector, or make a custom cable.

    talking about alternatives:

EIM_D21 & EIM_D22 can be used as SPDIF IN & OUT but at the cost of USB OTG pins.

Those two pins have the problem that they are not directly wired to the USB connector, but to U20, the USB IC. The only one directly connected from the CPU to the USB is ENET_RX_ER. Note that I am talking only about SPDIF input. Output is not required in our project, so I haven't done any research regarding the other pins.
