The Texas Instruments CC2511EMKCC2511EMK evaluation module/USB dongle is designed to help the user to achieve his/hers objectives as quickly as possible. This is the same USB dongle which is included in the CC2510-CC2511DKCC2510-CC2511DK Development Kit.

  • Evaluate the CC2500/CC2550/CC2510 products. The CC2511CC2511 USB dongle can be used to test the communication between the CC2500/CC2550/CC2510 prototypes/development kits, and a PC, without having to wire up the CC2500/CC2550/CC2510 development kit to the PC.
  • Right out of the box, the user can do range testing (PER testing) and transfer data from one PC to another using the SmartRFRegistered04DK. This enables the user to quickly find out how well the SmartRFRegistered04 products fit the intended application. A number of demonstration applications serve to highlight the innovative features of the SmartRFRegistered04 ICs.
  • Perform RF measurements. Using SmartRFRegistered Studio, the user can configure the radio ICs with parameters that suit the intended application and easily measure sensitivity output power and other RF parameters.
  • Develop a prototype. The SmartRFRegistered04DK includes a Silicon Labs 8051-core MCU with 16 kB of program memory and 1 kB of data memory. By programming this MCU and utilizing the various peripherals included on the Evaluation Board, the user can easily make a prototype of the intended application. All signals are brought out on 0.1" pin-row connectors so easy connection of other required circuitry is possible. These connectors are also compatible with Agilent logic analyzer probes for easy debugging.
  • It is also possible to disconnect the Silicon Labs MCU from the EM board, and connect a MCU selected by the user to the I/O connectors.

The Texas Instruments CC1111EMK868-915CC1111EMK868-915 USB dongle makes it easy to have a direct connection between a PC and a sub-1 GHz network based on compatible radios, like the multiProductLinkCC1101, CC1120, CC1110, and CC430. The dongle is a complete reference design demonstrating how to use the USB and RF interfaces on the CC1111 system-on-chip.The dongle operates in the 868 MHz and 915 MHz frequency bands.

  • Use the USB firmware and examples (swrc088) as a basis to develop and test USB device software for the CC1111F32RSP.CC1111F32RSP.. If you have the complete CC1110-CC1110DK, you can run several examples:
    • Wireless serial port application (CDC)
    • Wireless mouse and keyboard (HID)
    • Any other USB class can also be implemented based on the generic USB firmware library. Refer to the USB firmware user guide for more information.
  • Use the dongle as a packet capture device for the SmartRF Packet Sniffer. Configured correctly, the dongle can capture packets over-the-air and the sniffer application can parse and display the contents.

SmartRF Studio

SmartRFTm Studio is a Windows application that can be used to evaluate and configure Low Power RF-ICs from Texas Instruments. The application will help designers of RF systems to easily evaluate the RF-ICs at an early stage in the design process. It is especially useful for generation of configuration register values, for practical testing of the RF system and for finding optimized external component values. SmartRF Studio can be used both as a standalone application or together with applicable evaluation boards that are shipped in the RF-IC development kits.

  • Link tests. Send and Receive packets between nodes.
  • Antenna and radiation tests. Set the radio in continuous TX and RX states.
  • Easy Mode for packet testing and for getting basic register values.
  • A set of recommended/typical register settings for all devices.
  • Read and write individual RF registers.
  • Detailed information about the bit fields for each register.
  • Save/Load device configuration data from file.
  • Exports register settings to a user definable format.
  • Communication with evaluation boards through USB port or the parallel port.
  • Up to 32 evaluation boards are supported on a single computer.
