Overview:

 

The Texas Instruments TPS5430EVM-173TPS5430EVM-173 evaluation module allows the designer to evaluate the TPS5430TPS5430 SWIFT DC/DC converter and is designed with external components to operate over a wide input voltage range. The input voltage range of this module is 9.0 V to 36 V and the output voltage is pre-set to 5 V. The output voltage can be easily adjusted by changing a resistor divider. The TPS5430 is ideal for a wide range of consumer electronics and industrial applications with an input voltage requirement of 5.5 V to 36 V.

 

The TPS5430TPS5430 dc/dc converters are designed to provide up to a 3-A output from an input voltage source of 5.5 V to 36 V. This evaluation module is designed to demonstrate the small printed-circuit-board areas that may be achieved when designing with the TPS5430 regulators. Rated input voltage range is 10 V to 35 V and output current range is 0 A to 3 A for the evaluation module. The switching frequency is internally set at a nominal 500 kHz. The high-side MOSFET is incorporated inside the TPS5430 package along with the gate drive circuitry. The low drain-to-source on resistance of the MOSFET allows the TPS5430 to achieve high efficiencies and helps keep the junction temperature low at high output currents. The compensation components are provided internal to the integrated circuit (IC), whereas an external divider allows for an adjustable output voltage. Additionally, the TPS5430TPS5430 provides an enable input. The absolute maximum input voltage is 38 V for the TPS5430EVM-173TPS5430EVM-173.
