Kit Overview

 

The Analog Devices EVAL-AD7091RSDZEVAL-AD7091RSDZ is a full-featured evaluation board designed to allow the user to easily evaluate all features of the AD7091RAD7091R analog-to-digital converter. The evaluation board can be controlled via the SDP connector (J4). The SDP board allows the evaluation board to be controlled through the USB port of a PC using the EVAL-AD7091RSDZ software.

 

The EVAL-AD7091RSDZEVAL-AD7091RSDZ is a fully featured evaluation kit for the AD7091RAD7091R. This board operates in stand alone mode or in conjunction with the SDP-B System Development Platform, EVAL-SDP-CB1ZEVAL-SDP-CB1Z. When operated with the System Development Platform software is provided enabling the user to perform detailed analysis of the ADC's performance. This software includes the technical note describing the operation and set up of the evaluation board in standalone operation or when operated with the System Development Platform . When operated in standalone mode the ADZS-BRKOUT-EX3ADZS-BRKOUT-EX3 break out board is recommended for access to various control pins.

 

On-board components include the AD8031AD8031 high speed precision rail-to-rail op-amp, the AD8032AD8032 high speed precision rail-to-rail dual op amp, and the ADP3303ARZ-5ADP3303ARZ-5 high accuracy 200 mA low dropout linear regulator.

 

The AD7091RAD7091R is a 12-bit successive approximation analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that offers ultralow power consumption (typically 349 µA at 3 V and 1 MSPS) while achieving fast throughput rates (1 MSPS with a 50 MHz SCLK). The AD7091R uses advanced design and process techniques to achieve this very low power dissipation at high throughput rates. The part also features an on-chip, accurate 2.5 V reference.

 

The SDP Controller board is ordered seperately (EVAL-SDP-CB1ZEVAL-SDP-CB1Z). If you have not previously purchased an SDP Controller board, please do so to ensure a full evaluation setup

Software Development Tools:

AD7091R Evaluation Software

The evaluation kit for the AD7091R includes self-installing software on the CD. The software is compatible with WindowsRegistered XP, Windows Vista (32-bit), and Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit). The software must be installed before connecting the SDP board to the USB port of the PC to ensure that the SDP board is recognized when it connects to the PC. T he software allows to evaluation the performance of the AD7091R ADC, like

  • selecting the operating mode of the AD7091R
  • selecting the sampling rate of the data acquisition
  • selecting the number of samples to be completed in a single acquisition
  • initiating the sampling and readback of the defined number of measurements
  • performing a continuous capture from the ADC

 

Hardware Development Tools:

SDP-B Controller Board

The SDP-B is a controller board for the System Demonstration Platform (SDP). The SDP-B is based on the Blackfin ADSP-BF527 processor with connectivity to the PC through a USB 2.0 high speed port. Controller boards allow for the configuration and capture of data on daughter boards from the PC via USB.The SDP-B (EVAL-SDP-CB1ZEVAL-SDP-CB1Z) is the required controller board for this evaluation system.Evaluation boards requiring the SDP-B will not work with the SDP-S controller board.
