Kit Overview

 

The Analog Devices EVAL-AD7176-2SDZEVAL-AD7176-2SDZ evaluation kit features the AD7176-2AD7176-2 24-bit, 250 kSPS analog-to-digital converter (ADC). A 7 V to 9 V external bench top supply is regulated to 5 V and 3.3 V to supply the AD7176-2 and support all necessary components. The EVAL-AD7176-2SDZ board connects to the USB port of the PC by connection to the EVAL-SDP-CB1ZEVAL-SDP-CB1Z motherboard.

 

The EVAL-AD7176-2SDZEVAL-AD7176-2SDZ software fully configures the AD7176-2 device register functionality and provides dc time domain analysis in the form of waveform graphs, histograms, and associated noise analysis for ADC performance evaluation.

 

The EVAL-AD7176-2SDZEVAL-AD7176-2SDZ is an evaluation board that is designed to allow the user to evaluate the features of the ADC. The user PC software executable controls the AD7176-2 over the USB through the SDP-B system demonstration platform board (EVAL-SDP-CB1ZEVAL-SDP-CB1Z).

 

The AD7176-2AD7176-2 is a low noise, fast settling, multiplexed, 2-/4-channel (fully differential/pseudo differential) Σ-Δ ADC. The AD7176-2 has a maximum channel-to-channel scan rate of 50 kSPS (20 μs) for fully settled data. The output data rates range from 5 Hz to 250 kHz.

Software Development Tools:

AD7176-2 Evaluation Software

The evaluation kit for the AD7176-2 includes self-installing software on the CD. The software is compatible with WindowsRegistered XP, Windows Vista (32-bit), and Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit). The software must be installed before connecting the SDP board to the USB port of the PC to ensure that the SDP board is recognized when it connects to the PC. T he software allows to evaluate the performance of the AD7176-2 ADC and show data graph for the ADC output.

 

Hardware Development Tools:

SDP-B Controller Board

The SDP-B is a controller board for the System Demonstration Platform (SDP). The SDP-B is based on the Blackfin ADSP-BF527 processor with connectivity to the PC through a USB 2.0 high speed port. Controller boards allow for the configuration and capture of data on daughter boards from the PC via USB.The SDP-B (EVAL-SDP-CB1ZEVAL-SDP-CB1Z) is the required controller board for this evaluation system.Evaluation boards requiring the SDP-B will not work with the SDP-S controller board.
