The Texas Instruments C2000 Piccolo LaunchPad, LAUNCHXL-F28027LAUNCHXL-F28027, is a complete low-cost experimenter board for the Texas Instruments Piccolo F2802x devices. The LAUNCHXL-F28027 kit features all the hardware and software necessary to develop applications based on the F2802x microprocessor.
The LaunchPad is based on the superset F28027 device, and easily allows users to migrate to lower cost F2802x devices once the design needs are known. It offers an on-board JTAG emulation tool allowing direct interface to a PC for easy programming, debugging, and evaluation. In addition to JTAG emulation, the USB interface provides a UART serial connection from the F2802x device to the host PC.
The C2000 Piccolo LaunchPad is an inexpensive evaluation platform designed to help you leap right into the world of real-time control programming on the C2000 Piccolo microcontrollers. The LaunchPad is based on the Piccolo TMS320F28027TMS320F28027 with unique features such as 64KB of on board flash, 8 PWM channels, eCAP, 12bit ADC, I2C, SPI, UART, and much more.
It includes many board hardware features such as an integrated isolated XDS100 JTAG emulator for easy programming and debugging, 40 PCB pins for easy access to the pins of the F28027 processor, reset button and programmable button, etc. Not only does the C2000 LaunchPad have the required hardware for development, it is also provides users with access to example code, libraries, drivers, and many more resources through controlSUITE which is available for free.
The F2802x Piccolo family of microcontrollers provides the power of the C28x core coupled with highly integrated control peripherals in low pin-count devices. This family is code-compatible with previous C28x-based code, as well as providing a high level of analog integration. Users can use Code Composer Studio IDE version 5 to write, download, and debug applications on the LAUNCHXL-F28027LAUNCHXL-F28027 board. The debugger is unobtrusive, allowing the user to run an application at full speed with hardware breakpoints and single stepping available while consuming no extra hardware resources.
