Overview
Cypress offers CY4607MCY4607M Multi-TT HX2VL Very Low-Power 4-Port Hub Development Kit for developing a fixed-function, very low-power Multi-TT 4-port USB 2.0 hub controller that is production ready and USB-IF compliant.
HX2VL is Cypress’s next generation family of high-performance, very low-power USB 2.0 hub controllers. HX2VL has integrated upstream and downstream transceivers; a USB serial interface engine (SIE); USB hub control and repeater logic; and transaction translator (TT) logic. Cypress has also integrated external components such as voltage regulator and pull-up/pull-down resistors, reducing the overall BOM required to implement a USB hub system. The CY7C65642CY7C65642 is a part of the HX2VL portfolio with four downstream ports and an independent TT dedicated for each downstream port. This device option is for low-power but high-performance applications that require up to four downstream ports. The CY7C65642 USB 2.0 Hubs are low-power hub solutions for USB which provide maximum transfer efficiency with no TT multiplexing between downstream ports. The CY7C65642 USB 2.0 Hubs integrate 1.5 kohm upstream pull-up resistors for full speed operation and all downstream 15 kohm pull-down resistors and series termination resistors on all upstream and downstream D+ and D– pins. This results in optimization of system costs by providing built-in support for the USB 2.0 specification.

Cypress HX2VL Configuration Utility Blaster:
The Cypress HX2VL uses 16 bytes of configuration settings, which define how the part interacts with the attached USB device(s) and the USB host. The HX2VL also uses a standard set of USB string descriptors to provide information about the product to the USB host. The HX2VL contains default configuration settings in its internal ROM. Circuit designs using the Cypress HX2VL may store the configuration settings and USB string descriptors externally on a I2C or SPI EEPROM.
HX2VL supports field-programming of the I2C EEPROM connected to it. The Cypress HX2VL Configuration Utility Blaster is used to edit the configuration settings and USB descriptors for the HX2VL stored in the I2C EEPROM. The configuration settings and USB string descriptors can be stored in a HX2VL config (.iic) file on the PC, or the utility can work directly with settings and descriptors from the I2C EEPROM of a USB-attached HX2VL-based hub.
The utility is intended to give developers an opportunity to develop an optimal set of HX2VL configuration settings and USB string descriptors by experimenting with those settings and descriptors on their product. Once an optimal configuration is developed, it can be used with the utility for mass production.
