Cypress Overview

image

Cypress delivers high-performance, mixed-signal, programmable solutions that provide design engineers with rapid time-to-market and exceptional system value. Cypress offerings include the flagship PSoC 1, PSoC 3, PSoC 4, and PSoC 5 programmable system-on-chip families and derivatives, CapSense touch sensing and TrueTouch solutions for touchscreens. Cypress is the world leader in USB controllers, including the high-performance West Bridge solution that enhances connectivity and performance in multimedia handsets, PCs and tablets. Cypress is also the world leader in SRAM memories. Cypress serves numerous markets including consumer, mobile handsets, computation, data communications, automotive, industrial and military.

PSoCRegistered - Programmable System-on-Chip

PSoC is the world's only programmable embedded system-on-chip integrating high-performance analog, PLD-based programmable logic, memory and a microcontroller on a single chip. The PSoCRegistered architecture consists of configurable analog and digital blocks, a CPU subsystem and programmable routing and interconnect. PSoC lets you plug in predefined and tested IP from the PSoC library of functions, or code your own. Either way, you have the flexibility to build innovation and competitive advantage into your products. PSoC devices also have dedicated communication interfaces like I2C, Full-Speed USB 2.0, CAN 2.0, and on-chip debugging capabilities using JTAG and Serial Wire Debug. The members of the PSoC family offer industry-standard processors like the 8051, ARM Cortex-M3 and ARM Cortex-M0.

Touch Sensing

CapSenseRegistered Controllers

The CapSense Family is Cypress’s market leading Capacitive Sensing solution that has replaced more than 3.5 Billion sensors with a Capacitive touch interface over the last many years. The CapSense Family is based on Cypress’s Programmable System on Chip (PSoC) platform that provides design engineers with the flexibility needed to make last minute changes and get to market before the competition. The CapSenseRegistered portfolio ranges from simple buttons and sliders to more sophisticated solutions integrating other system components to reduce total BOM cost and form factor. Cypress’s latest addition to this portfolio is the ultra-low power CY8C20xx6A family for the most demanding Capacitive Sensing applications. This low-power family is enabled by Cypress SmartSenseTm – the industry’s most advanced Capacitive Sensing algorithm that makes Cypress CapSense the easiest to use in the market.

TrueTouchRegistered Touch Screen Controllers

Cypress’ TrueTouchRegistered Touchscreen Solutions, powered by PSoCRegistered Programmable-System-on-Chip technology, offer unmatched flexibility and the broadest portfolio available. The projected capacitive TrueTouch Solutions give designers a choice between different usage models, different touchscreen vendors and different LCD vendors. They also enable designers to accommodate last minute changes -- something no other touchscreen product can deliver. TrueTouch touchscreen controllers leverage the industry's broadest capacitive touch IP portfolio to deliver a new standard for performance, taking your design to the next level and silencing the competition.

USB Controller

Cypress has been “Making USB UniversalRegistered” since 1996. Universal Serial Bus (USB) is the most common connectivity solution for PCs and consumer devices today. Plug and play, easy to use and simple to implement, USB continues to gain traction in new applications and market segments. With a complete portfolio of USB solutions, Cypress continues to innovate on emerging USB technologies. Cypress also provides the industry’s most comprehensive “whole product” support, including software, reference designs and driver suites. This provides a one-stop shop for all USB needs and enables the design engineer to get to market faster, and gain a competitive advantage in the market. While Cypress continues to expand its Low Speed, Full Speed, and Hi-Speed USB portfolio in consumer, industrial, and medical applications, Cypress is poised to provide industry’s best solution in compliance with the emerging SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard.
